Project Background & Client Profile
The Challenge: Inadequate Standards & System Faults
This project involved a dual-panel setup consisting of a generator Automatic Remote Start (ARS) panel and a separate Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) with a changeover panel.
The client was facing system reliability issues due to a faulty autostart module and, more critically, sub-standard wiring throughout the ATS panel. The “rats-nest” of existing cabling not only made troubleshooting impossible but posed a long-term risk to the operational integrity of the site’s emergency power.
The Solution: Targeted Replacement & Technical Reorganisation
Hagar Distribution was engaged to perform a fundamental conversion and hardware restoration.
1. ARS Module Upgrade – We decommissioned the faulty legacy autostart unit and integrated a DSE6110 MKIII Auto Start Control Module.
Precision Control: This upgrade provides the generator with advanced monitoring and protection features, ensuring a seamless response to remote start signals from the ATS.
2. Strategic Hardware Retention (DSE335) – Upon technical assessment, our team determined that the existing DSE335 ATS Controller was fully functional.
The “Hagar” Approach: Rather than recommending an unnecessary replacement, we leveraged the proven reliability of the DSE335. This saved the client on hardware costs while allowing us to focus resources on the critical failure point: the wiring.
3. Total Wiring Restoration – The core of this integration was a complete “strip and set” of the ATS panel.
Organisational Standards: As seen in the project documentation, we performed a total cleanup and re-organisation of the wiring loom.
The Result: By implementing professional cable management and clear termination standards, we transformed a high-risk panel into a clean, serviceable, and reliable system.
Project Outcome
By combining new control technology with the restoration of existing high-quality hardware, Hagar Distribution delivered a robust, high-standard power solution. The client now has a reliable, dual-panel system that is easy to maintain and built to international electrical standards.
