Motors are used to charge up a spring closing and opening mechanism. The closing operation takes less than 0.1 second. The opening operation is typically 1.5 seconds. This delayed time is acceptable for normal transfers but is too slow when synchronising two separate supplies. For synchronised switching, use shunt opening. The T7 cannot be motorised, only the T7M.
